Gary A. Chamberlin, Esq.

Gary Chamberlin is a Member of the firm and has been practicing law since 1990. He possesses extensive experience in employment law and advises employers on issues affecting their workforce. Gary is Chair of our Affirmative Action and Government Contractors practice.

Besides the traditional counseling work he performs, such as developing employee policies and procedures, Mr. Chamberlin represents employers in EEOC, Michigan Department of Civil Rights and civil court actions involving discrimination, harassment, wrongful discharge, wage and hour, and workers’ compensation disputes. He provides legal counsel and perspective that is truly client centric. Before embarking on a legal career, Gary was employed by a public utility as the human resources manager of a power plant. He later joined a bottling company and oversaw the human resources function of that company. Possessing experience in both a unionized and non-union environment has afforded Mr. Chamberlin a perspective valued and appreciated by his clients.

Companies with over 50 employees awarded federal government contracts exceeding $50,000 are governed by complicated and often confusing affirmative action requirements. Often, employers are unaware that such compliance extends to every plant and operating location, not just the facility producing the product or providing the services to fulfill the contract. Gary has significant experience advising companies awarded sizable federal contracts on affirmative action compliance and related issues, including evaluating company-wide compliance, and drafting and updating annual action plans. Mr. Chamberlin is also retained to represent companies audited by the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP). Recently Gary developed the successful Two Minute Legal Update video series to inform clients of breaking news regarding compliance obligations on the firm’s YouTube channel.
