Job Description:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Plans, organizes and implements occupational therapy treatment activities and programs which are consistent with the program philosophy of the facility.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skill to provide appropriate care based on the age of the client served.
  • Completes appropriate clinical assessment on each referred client.
  • Implements competent treatment and performs regular re-assessment for the purpose of treatment modification, to maximize the client's potential for their highest level of functioning.
  • Observes, records, and reports client progress, technical observations and results.
  • Consults with medical personnel and other professionals concerning individual treatment and participates in treatment planning.
  • Conducts case presentations and consultations with other agencies regarding programs and services offered.
  • Collaborates in the development of standards of practice and training programs in support of effective, evidence-based practices.
  • Assists with the development, oversight and implementation of research and grant-funded activities.

EDUCATION

  • Master's degree from an accredited program in Occupational Therapy.
  • License to practice Occupational Therapy in Kentucky.
  • Ability to handle case load with varying levels of client disability and need.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including public speaking and program presentation.
  • Reliable transportation for frequent travel between work sites.

EXPERIENCE

  • Over three and up to four years' experience in providing Occupational Therapy services for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities and/or those with both intellectual and developmental and mental health disabilities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Position involves lifting and transferring of clients at various times depending upon client functional abilities. Position may involve occasional exposure to threat of bodily harm from clients or their families. Normal work tasks may involve exposure to blood, body fluids or tissue on an unplanned or occasional basis. Occasional minor discomforts from continual use of video display terminal and computer equipment.
